Prostate Cancer Understanding the Challenges and Empowering Yourself PCEC has presented a comprehensive webinar with Dr. Alec Koo of Skyline Urology and Janssen Pharmaceuticals about prostate cancer and the utilization of hormone therapy during treatment! COVID-19 & Prostate Cancer David Crawford, MD Chairman of PCEC and Professor at the University of California San Diego, and Neil Baum, MD of Tulane Medical School presented an educational webinar for patients and caregivers providing information specifically about COVID-19 and prostate cancer treatment. This includes how urologists are staying committed to providing the best care for their patients, utilization of telehealth, what to expect from office visits, the benefits of markers, potential changes to treatment, and more! African American Disparity in Prostate Cancer Prostate cancer occurs more often in African American men than of men of other races. African American men are also more than twice as likely to die of prostate cancer. Curtis A. Pettaway, MD from MD Anderson Cancer Center will present a webinar about the African American disparity in prostate cancer. This webinar is for patients and caregivers and will provide information specifically about the disparity of African American men diagnosed with prostate cancer including information about when African Americans should be screened and how often, the importance of clinical trial participation, and more! There will also be time allotted for participants to submit questions. Prostate Cancer Patient Education Webinar Stephen Riggs, MD of the Levine Cancer Institute presented an educational webinar for patients and caregivers about all things prostate cancer! Genetic Testing Education Webinar Genetic Counselor Brittany Szymaniak, Ph.D., LCGC from Northwestern Medicine in the Department of Urology presented a comprehensive webinar about genetic testing for prostate cancer. This webinar is for patients and caregivers and has targeted information specifically about genetic testing including what it is when it is appropriate for patients, and what it means for treatment options. This presentation has also included education about the new therapy, PARP inhibitors! Prostate Cancer Education Garrett Pohlman, MD of Kearney Urology Center PC presented an educational program for patients and caregivers on prostate cancer! This comprehensive webinar included topics such as early detection, genomics & genetics, localized treatment, hormone therapy for both early and advanced patients, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, bone health, side effects, and more.
